About The Seminar
It is often said that there are two Indias – Bharat which exists in the villages and the India which thrives in the urban areas. If our country has to have real progress and make its mark on the global stage, these two Indias must converge. Prosperity will have to come to our villages, towns and cities. There is a new hope and sense of new energy that is driving rural India. As aspirations grow and consumption rises, rural hinterland is gradually becoming the epicenter of the country. Millions of people in rural India still live below the poverty line. There are a number of issues related to health, education and sanitation which need urgent attention. Growth in this sector will have a significant impact on overall growth and yet we must go beyond agriculture if we have to make a real impact on the millions who live in rural India.
Marketers with innovative strategies have attempted to create, design and implement sustainable value chains linked to its businesses to tap rural markets. Some of their efforts paid off and many back fired making rural markets still an enigma. Academic scholars, industrialists, marketing professionals and researchers in rural marketing mapped the organizational efforts and suggested alternative approaches to tap rural markets. This seminar provides them an opportunity to share their experiences and workout the way ahead for rural marketing in India.

Industry experts, academicians, research scholars, students and NGO’s engaged in rural development and marketing.
Call for Papers
Theoretical, conceptual and empirical research papers that are original work and not published elsewhere are invited from professionals, industry experts, academicians, research scholars and students on the following themes:
· rural market – opportunities and challenges
· rural market environment and trends
· rural consumers behavior
· rural market research
· rural markets and inclusive growth
· advertising and promotion in rural markets
· assessing rural market potential for various sectors in India
· product design, development and launch in rural markets
· rural markets and inclusive growth
· approaches to segment rural markets, strategies for reaching out to rural areas and the conceptual underpinnings to understand the ‘village psyche’
Papers in other areas related to the above broad themes are also welcome for the seminar.

Ø Last day for submission of abstract – 4th November, 2013.
Ø Last day for submission of full paper in soft and hard copy – 30th November, 2013
Guidelines for Authors
Format: Full length paper must be typed in Times New Roman style in MS word and justified mode on A4 size paper with 1.5’ lines spacing, 1’ margin on 4 sides.
